On Gender Fights

HOLIDAY: The day that you invent new definitions of the word 'sprawled', stuff your face with stuff  you discover in old 'dabba's' and catch on all that has been going on in the 'WWW', and then, of course, rant.

No marks for guessing what's going on off late: 'My Choice'.

Here's the rant...

1. Deepika

So, I like Deepika and I don't blame her for the video or the content or your interpretations of it. She did a good job by looking her best and lending her 'next door girl' voice the video.

A bad choice you may feel, but stop with all the personal bashing!

People who hate Deepika for this video are equal to people who hate Anushka for showing up at Sydney. Come on yaaa...'Deepika's fault' can never be the main agenda of my thoughts or day or blog. So all Deepika-haters.

#OkBye.

2. Vogue

Obviously they're marketing themselves and milking the whole feminism agenda.

But I'm not offended.

You may say I've developed a thick skin. But I've seen too many skin-lightening, hair-straitening, waist-tightening advertisements. Beauty pageants’, magazines, fashion blogs/vlogs have thickened my skin. So Vogue. I really feel your sham-ness and would probably think seven million times before taking any women empowerment video you made seriously. So Vogue.

#IDon'tCare.

3. The Message

It has been dissected by a zillion people. It has some high and low points, like 99.99% of all messages. And btw I get what they mean when they say, "I'm a snowflake, not the snowfall"

#Seriously Shobha De?

4. My Problem.

Obviously the message could have been crafted better. But my expectations were not so high from the people related to 'Cocktail'.

#Yawn.

5. The Real 'My Problem'

My main problem is with the girls and boys on my timeline who have made this whole issue a ‘girls/women versus boys/men’ agenda. Seriously, anytime any pseudo-feminist type of message shows up there's a barrage of statements like 'this is anti-boy, if girls can do this boy's can also do this.' And this is by women and men of my age, my profession and by people of much more mental competence then me. The whole idea of feminism is crafted to be like a fight between the two genders.

And so I ask: What is wrong with you people?

This feels like the day and age of divide and rule. I hope others can see it too?

I am expected to defend my gender anytime some random video comes up. And I hate it because I don't even care! It's not so hard to understand that men have their own problems and women have their problems. If someone makes a video (or a bad video) highlighting their view of one gender's problem then the other genders problems in no way become unimportant!

I'm not doing much to solve problems of other women and men, hell; I'm so overwhelmed by my own microscopic problems. So such random spewing of venom irritates me.

Stop!

Stop the Men Versus Women. After so much education (or whatever you call what we've been doing the majority of our adult lives), I'm trying to look at people as people.

Human Being.

Just because Homi Adjania made a video, so many people are out with their knives to remind me my gender, my place, my fight.

And what if I don't want to fight! I'd rather try to find place from where to act. With zero-venom.

That's my choice.

#RantOver.

You mean to say that people should not be held responsible for their work or what they do? People should not own their creation? Virat Kohli's performance in his work has nothing to do with the fact of Anushka's presence. Whosoever blames her is talking nonsense. However, Deepika has created something. She is bound to be held responsible for her creation. She can not disown her creation. As an art form I do not have much problem with it. However, it is sold under the name of women empowerment. This is where I have serious problem with it. This video objectifies woman. An object which can wear cloths, be thick or thin and have sex.
