The modern society tells me,
It's open to my ideas,
Any and all,
But with a small precondition,
They should fit in set standards,
Not completely my discretion.

I want to tell you society,
You're really not,
You are not open to my ideas,
Even though I welcome some norms,
Which are the safety net for others,
Especially those vulnerable.

But your narrow definitions,
About things which concern just me!
Your stamp of disapproval about choices,
Which define only my destiny,
You are really not,
Open to my ideas.

My choices,
Which according to you,
Are impractical,
Annoying,
Not the most optimum,
Below my potential.

Because I must use my potential,
In a ways which further and attest,
Your norms,
My reality must be a case study,
To the future beings,
Of your womb.

You lie society,
When you make me believe,
That I'm free,
That you will welcome,
Me for me.
You will really not.
