Education, etc.

I often think about the way I've gained gyaan in life. Pre-school, school, college, tuitions (numerous, and often) Although, I've gained a lot from the interfaces these experiences gave me. I don't think that my elected path was most optimal.

Lately, after reading about concepts like 'home-schooling' and 'no-schooling', I have already begun making plans for the education of my - yet to be born or planned / don't even know if there ever will be any / adopted / fostered - child.

Firstly, no tuition classes. NO NO NO. Not until he/she is old enough to vote and decides he/she needs them. A human child, therefore no rat races.

Further, he/she will go to a vernacular medium school. Yes sir. English/French/Sanskrit will be his/her second language.

Finally, not a high-end snobbish 'gurukul'. But a local school run by local authorities ('Municipality school', often deridingly viewed) It's not that I have high faith in the municipal schools or teaching. But the notion that 'low class' pupils study there is infuriating. Overheard somewhere : We don't want our children to be reading with sons and daughters of vegetable and news-paper vendors. No sir. My ward will not learn discrimination from such early years. If his/her co-students happen to be of a more humble background compared to him/her, I would make sure he/she would be sensitive and helpful. I would make sure my ward is an agent of change. Someone who was able to use the privileges they had for more persons than just themselves.

Thats how far the thought process has reached yet. I really hope time and busy schedules don't change this idea. But there's really a lot of sharing and equalizing needed, to propel our country out of stupid new-age discriminations.
